Most Latter-day Saints want to read the scriptures daily as we have been repeatedly counseled. (See, for example, Pres. Howard W. Hunter’s address entitled “Reading the Scriptures” in the October 1979 General Conference.) But life happens. We get busy. Other priorities vie for our time and scripture reading gets pushed to the back burner.
In September 2019, Book of Mormon Central debuted our spectacular ScripturePlus mobile app. Over 100,000 regular users have launched it 5.6 million times. For many, it has revolutionized their daily scripture study. ScripturePlus is a magnificent tool helping people “feast upon the words of Christ” as Nephi admonishes in 2 Nephi 32:3. As impressive as ScripturePlus is (and it keeps getting better every day), there is a massive need for an app to reach the huge number of people who simply do not engage in daily scripture study. Many people seldom go to the scriptures. What if the scriptures came to them? The impressive new Come Follow Me App features a verse of the day and a 5-minute daily devotional that simply appear on your mobile device every day through the power of push notification technology. All you do is turn on your phone or tablet and voila! A delightful daily portion of God’s word is available for you to enjoy with a swipe or a tap. Scripture study just doesn’t get much easier than this.

And what do you get to enjoy each day besides the words of God in one important verse? A short video from a fellow student of the scriptures giving their personal insights into that verse. Today, for example, the verse is Doctrine and Covenants 81:5 about succoring the weak, lifting up the hands which hang down, and strengthening the feeble knees. The 2-minute video is from Sister Joy D. Jones, recently released as General Primary President. The combination of the word of God and insights from a devoted servant of the Most High is peaceful, joyous, beautiful. And who would not like a little more peace, joy, and beauty in their life each and every day?
